Welcome!

The arrival of a new baby is one of the most amazing and life-changing experiences that a family can have.  It can also be the most challenging time as a mother recovers from the birth and is adjusting to life with a newborn.  A Postpartum Doula comes into your home and eases you through this transition, offering emotional, educational and physical support for the whole family.

Many studies have shown that new parents who have support during this transition experience greater breastfeeding success, greater self-confidence and less postpartum depression.  As your Postpartum Doula, I am committed to helping you have a smooth adjustment to parenthood.

Countless scientific trials examining doula care demonstrate remarkably improved physical and psychological outcomes for both mother and baby. Doulas have a positive impact on the well-being of the entire family.DONA International

About Me

My name is Gill Emery, I am the mom of three grown sons and live in West Roxbury with my husband.  I also have two furry boys, Bentley and Jensen.

My passion for mother and baby care came when I was in my teens.  I was born and raised in the north of England and always knew I wanted to become a midwife.  I went to nursing school in Liverpool and moved to Cambridge to start my midwifery training in 1990.  Prior to leaving the UK, I was working as a hospital-based midwife at the John Radcliffe in Oxford. Now my own children are grown, I am excited to return to the field I love!  I am thrilled to be able to support new families through this extraordinary time.

I am a DONA Certified Postpartum Doula and Certified Lactation Counselor. I am also Red Cross certified in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED. I am also a CAPPA Certified Childbirth Educator and teach classes at Emerson Hospital, Concord, MA.

Here are some of the reviews that my families have been kind enough to share. You can see more here

There are not enough words to describe how wonderful Gill is and how much she helped us in the first 7 weeks of our son’s life. Gill was our calming force through breastfeeding challenges, navigating new parenthood and even a house move with a 3 week old— Gill rolls with the punches, all while being an amazing resource and expert in baby care.

Gill was wonderfully helpful – she helped with me, the baby, our three older kids and the housework without needing us to keep telling her what to do – she just did what was needed. She was a huge help in our first few weeks getting settled with a new baby

Gill was our postpartum doula for our second child. She was there from the moment our daughter was born, and she helped all of us transition to a family of four. Since I struggled with postpartum depression, it was incredibly important to have someone there to help us acclimate to our new reality in a gentle way. She was helpful in ways we didn’t anticipate, and she was wonderful at meeting all four of our needs. Having Gill come to help us was one of the best decisions we could have made. I recommend her highly to any and all parents in search of a warm, calming and supportive presence.
